“The objective of this meeting is to finalize documents for the summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states which will be held in Astrakhan in September,” Deputy Foreign Minister Ebrahim Rahimpour said.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif arrived in Moscow on Monday to attend the meeting.
Upon his arrival, he said Caspian Sea must be the sea of peace and friendship.
Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are the littoral states of the Caspian Sea.
The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed body of water by area, and is variously classed as the world's largest lake or a full-fledged sea.
