Euro-5 Gasoline Distribution to Start in 2016

TEHRAN August 25 (Shana)--The first phase of Persian Gulf Star refinery, which will come online before the end of next Iranian calendar year in March 2016, not only will make gasoline imports unnecessary but will lead to production and distribution of euro-5 gasoline for the first time in the country.

Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Abbas Kazemi made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Shana, adding by launching the first phase of Persian Gulf Star refinery gasoline production of the country will go up by 12 million liters per day.
Completion of boosting production capacity projects at Abadan, Lavan and Bandar Abbas oil refineries in next year’s summer will raise total gasoline production capacity of the country to 68 million liters. This volume will hit 80 million liters per day when the first phase of Persian Gulf Star refinery to come online before the end of next Iranian calendar year in March 2016.  
According to Kazemi, construction of Persian Gulf Star refinery project is going on satisfactorily, its physical progress has reached 70 percent.   
NIOPDC chief executive further noted that all the oil products of Persian Gulf Star refinery would be distributed in the country due to their high quality. 
Meanwhile a second pipeline will be built between Tehran and Bandar Abbas in order to transfer euro-4 and euro-5 gasoline and gasoil to the storage tanks in the capital and distribution across the country, Kazemi told Shana. 
Elsewhere in his remarks, NIOPDC head said that energy security and reducing air pollution in the mega cities are among the crucial targets of the Petroleum Ministry and NIOPDC. 
Last week Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Namdar Zanganeh visited Persian Gulf Star refinery calling it the second strategic project of Iran’s oil industry after South Pars gas field. 
As a gas condensate refinery, Persian Gulf Star refinery is scheduled to produce 36 million liters of octan-95 gasoline and 14 million liters of gasoil per day, besides 4 million liters of LPG, 3 million liters of jet fuel and 130 tons of sulfur.
