Iran Firm Exports 90,000 Tons/Month Sulfur

TEHRAN Nov 23 (Shana)--Iran Gas Commercial Company exports 90,000 tons a month of sulfur produced from South Pars gas field and Shahid Hasheminejad gas refinery, a company official said.

Emsaeil Qasemi, director for marketing and exports in the company, said the exports are made in 30,000-ton cargoes, including two granulated cargoes.

The sulfur produced by Shahid Hasheminejad gas refinery is transferred to Bandar Abbas in southern Iran by railway before being exported.

Qasemi said China, Latin America, India and Africa are the main importers of sulfur in the world.

He said Iran is the third largest producer of sulfur in the world, behind Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Other producers of sulfur in Iran include Tehran, Shiraz, Tabriz, Arak, Isfahan, Abadan and Bandar Abbas oil refineries as well as Razi and Kharg petrochemical companies.

Iran is currently producing 2 million tons of sulfur a year.
