Iran Petchem Output 10% Up Yr/Yr

TEHRAN March 01(Shana)--Iran has raised its petrochemical production by 10 percent during the first ten months of the current calendar year, ending on February 19, from a year ago, the director for control at National Petrochemical Company said.

“Since the start of the current year, the country’s petrochemical production has increased 10% year-on-year,” Ali-Mohammad Bosaqzadeh said.

He said that Kavian Petrochemical Plant is the largest producer of ethylene in the Middle East with a capacity of more than two million tons a year.

He added that the second phase of the Kavian plant is expected to become operational soon as new phases of the giant South Pars gas field are expected to come on-stream to feed this facility.

Bosaqzadeh also expressed hope that the second phase of West Ethylene Pipeline, 400 kilometers long, would become operational in March.
