Setting Up Regional Fund Necessary

TEHRAN March 03(Shana)--'In correspondence with the United Nations, we have suggested formation of a regional fund for addressing dust storm problem in the region and despite opposition by some regional countries we will pursue setting up the fund."

Head of Department of Environment (DoE) Masomeh Ebtekar made the remarks, and said heading dust storm from other countries and its impact on our country environment has made formation of a special fund for coping with the problem necessary.

He said last week the related apparatuses were informed about the latest legislation of the cabinet on coping with dust storm problem, adding this legislation is focused on management of storm and different apparatuses including civil aviation, meteorology, interior ministry, DoE, Health Ministry and The Organization of Protecting Jungles each shoulder duties in this regard.

She said scientific and proper management are the only way for addressing dust storm challenge stating there is no a short term solution for solving the problem.
