New Phases of South Pars Gas Field Coming Online Soon

TEHRAN March 17(Shana)--Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that phases 15&16 and 17&18 would be inaugurated officially respectively in late spring and early summer.

Speaking on the eve of inauguration of the South Pars gas field phase 12, Zanganeh said Iran's gas production capacity has gone up by 120 million cubic meters per day over the past year, 68 million cubic meters of which has come from South Pars gas field phase 12.

Zanganeh further noted that so far as much as 7.5 billion dollars had been invested in South Pars gas field phase 12.

"Phase 12 will add 80 million cubic meters of gas and 120 thousand barrels of gas condensate per day to total gas production capacity of the country", he said.

According to him, at the beginning of taking office by current administration, oil industry faced some problems including gas shortage and part-completed projects including phase 12 of South Pars gas field.  

Referring to giving priority to development of a number of phases of the giant gas field including phase 12, Zanganeh said production capacity of gas rose by more than 100 million cubic meters per day in winter.

He noted that South Pars gas field phases 12, 15&16 and 17&18 currently yield respectively 68, 37 and 18 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Zanganeh said that phases 15&16 and 17&18 would be inaugurated officially respectively in late spring and early summer.
