Loading South Pars Oil Layer Topside Starts

TEHRAN April 15(Shana)--A domestically manufactured topside designed for oil extraction from oil layers of South Pars gas field will be transferred to its position in the next few days.

The structure weighting 890 tons is planned to extract 35 thousand barrels of oil per day from the oil layer.

The operation for loading the structure is being carried out by a barge named Sadaf-3.000 in Bandar Abbas, south of the country.  

Director of development plan of oil layer of South Pars gas field at Petro Iran Company said the loading operation is expected to take five days and then the platform will be transferred to the related site for installation.  

Development of the oil layer will take place in two phases. In the first phase oil production is expected to reach 35 thousand barrels per day and a final decision on development of the second phase will be taken after conducting more studies on viability of the plan.
