South Africa Seeks Energy Accord with Iran

TEHRAN May 02(Shana)--South Africa is willing to sign agreements with Iran in the energy sector, a senior Iranian official said.

“South Africa is willing to sign memorandum with Iran in different sectors of energy,” Mohsen Qamsari, director of international affairs at National Iranian Oil Company, said.

He said that South Africa is willing to “buy petroleum products, gas, crude oil, petrochemicals and contribution to projects.”

Qamsari said South Africa is not buying crude oil from Iran now. “At present, Iran has no energy transactions with this country.”

“They (South Africa) want to receive crude oil for Engen Refinery in this country, but this country’s port is being controlled by Shell and they cannot take oil there,” he said.
