Bolivia Welcomes November GECF Summit in Tehran

TEHRAN August 29(Shana)—Bolivian President Evo Morales has voiced his country's willingness to attend the 3rd summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), a deputy minister of petroleum said.

Visiting Bolivian capital La Paz to relay President Rouhani's invitation to Morales for attending the 3rd GECF summit due in Tehran on November 23, Amir-Hossein Zamani-Nia, Iran's deputy oil minister for commerce and international affairs, said Mr. Morales thanks the Iranian president for the invitation and welcomed the summit.

He said the Bolivian president also highlighted Tehran-La Paz relations, and expressed optimism to enhance his country's economic ties with Iran especially in the oil and gas sector in the post-sanctions era.

Zamani-Nia was on a tour to some Latin American countries to pass Iran's invitations to GECF members for its third summit.

Members of the forum include Iran, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.

Gas producers formed the group over a decade ago. The GECF says its members control 80 percent of world gas production and 70 percent of LNG production.
