Vice President Supports Petroleum Ministry’s Environment Friendly Measures

TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (Shana) - Vice President of Iran and Head of Environmental Protection Organization Masumeh Ebtekar has endorsed measures taken by the Ministry of Petroleum to save environment during execution of its oil and gas projects.

Speaking at the National Conference on Sustainable Development, Petchem and Green Industry on Tuesday, she said in the summit meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in September Iran approved the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Ebtekar referred to the Third Summit Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) held on Monday in Tehran and said the intergovernmental body has sent a message to the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) which will convene next week in Paris.

The vice president argued that oil well flaring in Iran was unacceptable adding that there was a long way to go to bring it down to the world standard.
