No Petrol Imports from North

TEHRAN, Dec. 30 (Shana) -- Iran says it has stopped importing gasoline from its northern neighbors and has imported a daily volume of 9 million litter per day since March.

Nasser Sajjadi, managing-director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, said Iranian vehicles have consumed an average of 71.1ml/d during the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

He said all the imported gasoline cargoes have euro-4 qualifications, adding that the international department of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is the only body allowed to import petrol to the country through its southern ports.

Sajjadi said Iran has never imported large volumes of petrol from neighboring Turkmenistan, saying that the only petrol consignment from Turkmenistan was in summer which was a low-quality 5ml cargo.

"After it was proved that the cargo was substandard, a second consignment of the petrol was never downloaded in Iran," he said.

Iran has imported a total of 2.5 billion liters of gasoline since March 21, said Sajjadi.
