US Firm Eyes Petchem Purchases from Iran

TEHRAN, April 20 (Shana) –-An American company has signaled readiness to buy petrochemicals from Abadan Petrochemical Plant through its Europe branch, an official with the plant said.

Masoud Jebraeili, managing director of Abadan Petrochemical Plant, said an American producer of petrochemical items has voiced its readiness to buy PVC from the plant and has so far held numerous talks in this regard.

He refrained from disclosing the name of the American company before talks are over. 

"Following removal of US-engineered sanctions on Tehran's nuclear program, the pathways for initiating talks with leading international firms have opened for Iran and many European, and Asian have indicated readiness to join petrochemical projects in the country so far," he added. 

Furthermore, companies from Spain, Italy and India have said they eye petrochemical purchases from Iran, he said.
