Iran to Launch 6 South Pars Platforms by March 2017

TEHRAN, June 25 (Shana) – Iran is to launch 6 new platforms at the massive South Pars gas field by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 20 2017.

Speaking during the loading operation of Platform 18B of phases 17&18 of the gas field from Khorramshahr Yard on Thursday, Managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Ali Akbar Shabanpour said platforms of phases 21 and 19A with a production capacity of a billion cubic feet per day will be loaded during the current week and the two platforms will be carried by a single barge from Khorramshahr Yard.

He said 6 platforms will be launched during the current year while a 7th platform will be loaded for delivery to phase 14 whose installation will take until next year.

The official said given the production rise of 100 mcm/d by the end of the current year, Iran will recover as much as from the joint gas field as Qatar does.

He also said that the refinery sections of phases 17 and 18 are ready for production with their sulfur units online in a matter of a few days.
