Iran Eyes Gas Exports from District VI

TEHRAN, June 29 (Shana) -- Iran is planning to start exporting natural gas from District VI of Gas Transmission Operation after the National Iranian Gas Company fulfills a number of development projects in the region.

Director of the district told Shana that Iran Trunk-line-7 (IGAT-7) will be launched in the region in the near future to export Iranian natural gas.

"The line will play a significant, strategic role in gas supply to industrial and household sectors in south and southeastern regions of the country," said Karam Goudarzi.

He said the 56 inch pipeline is being laid down parallel with the other pipelines in the region and is being constructed based on international standards that are required of export pipelines.

Once completed the pipeline, 902 km long, will transfer 110 mcm/d of Iranian gas to Pakistan and other countries in Iran's east through the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

Currently two pressure boosting stations inject gas into the pipeline which will increase to 9 stations once Iran starts gas exports to India and Pakistan.
