New Record in Gas Delivery to Power Plants

TEHRAN, July 18 (Shana) – A total of 248 million cubic meters of natural gas a day was delivered to power plants for power generation in the past few days which is a new record.

Head of the dispatching unit of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) told Shana that Iran's power plants needs 270 ml/d of liquid fuel and 248 mcmc/d of gas fuel has been supplied to them in recent days.

Abdolreze Ebrahimian said the consumption may rise to 255 or 260 mcm/d given the rising temperature in the country.

He said NIGC supplied 83% of the fuel needed for power plants by gas supplies last year. 

Power plants will need 73.5 bcm by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 19 2017 or which 70 bcm will be supplied by gas.

NIGC sent an average of 175 mcm/d to power plants for electricity generation in the current year's first quarter.
