Countdown Begins for Adding 1bcf/d to South Pars Gas Output

TEHRAN, July 23 (Shana) - Iran is launching the platform of phase 21 of the supergiant South Pars Gas offshore gas field which will add a billion cubic feet per day to the field's gas output once fully operational.

The platform is being prepared for startup and will come online on Sunday provided that the climatic conditions in the region are OK.

Managing Director Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) Abolghasem Rahmani has said that operation of the platform will add a billion cubic feet of natural gas output to the field's daily production.

Phases 20 and 21 of South Pars gas field are being developed for extraction of 50 million cubic meters of gas for injection to the national trunkline, 77,000 b/d of gas condensates, 1 million tons of liquid gas, 1 million tons of ethane, and 400,000 tons of sulfur on a daily basis.
