Negligence of Safety Rules Cause of Petchem Fires: Official

TEHRAN, Aug 20 (Shana) – Director of the Production Control Department at National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Ali-Mohammad Bosaqzadeh says the most important reason for recent fires in the petrochemical industry was negligence of the safety principles.

Bosaqzadeh said, "had the HSE guidelines and standards been observed, such incidents would have never taken place".

He said the incidents entailed a series of technical, security, cyber and other consequences and all of these are under scrutiny.

He added that petrochemical facilities' design should be updated.

The official also said the post-JCPOA era is a suitable atmosphere for adopting the latest technologie in the world for the purpose.

Bosaqzadeh said if petrochemical facilities do not observe safety principles, their feedstock supply might be cut and their activity will come to a standstill.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Bosaqzadeh said fire inflicted about 100 million dollars on Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Facility.
