Rouhani: Iran Supports Oil Market Stability

TEHRAN, Oct 23 (Shana) – President Hassan Rouhani says Iran supports oil market stability and fair prices.

President Rouhani made the remark in a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro in Tehran on Saturday.

The President said, “Iran supports any move in line with oil market stability, fair prices and fair share of the producers.”

He said OPEC-non-OPEC coordination and cooperation for oil market stability is necessary.

He referred to the special standing of Latin America, including Venezuela, in Iran’s foreign policy and said expansion of cooperation with Latin America is of significance for Iran and fortunately, cooperation between the two sides have been expanding over the past years.

Referring to menace of terrorism in the region and the need for cooperation and exchange of views on the issue, President Rouhani said terrorism is a global problem and all should get united to fight it. “Certain countries’ using certain terrorist groups as a tool will eventually damage them.”

Maduro for his part said Venezuela is decisive to expand cooperation with Tehran in all domains and continues consultation with all the oil producers. “In order for oil price stabilization, new mechanisms should be adopted and consultation among the oil producers, including the OPEC and non-OPEC members, should continue.”

He referred to the next OPEC session in Vienna and said the oil producing countries should have spirit of cooperation and seek fair agreement so as to stabilize the oil prices.

Also referring to mutual agreement in various economic, political and cultural domains, he said Venezuelan government is decisive to enforce agreements, supporting consultation between the two sides’ ministers to speedily implement mutually reached agreements.
