TEHRAN (PIN) - Serakhs-Jask pipeline is the best option for moving the central Asian countries crude oil to the Persian Gulf, deputy Oil Minister for international affairs told PIN.

Hossein Noghrekar-Shirazi added Serakhs-Jask pipeline is one of the issues that has been put on the table to be discussed with the northern neighboring countries adding that by commissioning the pipeline along with Neka-Jask line, Jask region would be converted into a huge oil, gas and petrochemical products hub.

On Iran-o-Turkmenistan gas swap, Shirazi said along with Neka-Jask pipeline to transfer northern countries" oil to Oman Sea, a proposal has been offered to move Turkmenistan"s gas from Serakhs to Jask.

"Iran has planned to swap 50mm cm/d of gas in this region," he pointed out.

"With the partnership of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan countries, the pipeline could be a nearest gas route to the future markets," the official said.

Noghrekar-Shirazi further stated Iran has planned to swap a part of Turkmen Dowlatabad"s gas and a part of Kazakhstan"s and Uzbekistan"s gas.

Northern countries" crude oils are being swapped for Iranian oil in its terminals on the Persian Gulf. Oil swap deals with Iran have climbed 50,000 bpd to about 100,000 bpd and it is expected to rise 200,000 bpd within next few years.

Setting up oil terminals in the Persian Gulf and Caspian Sea are a strategic plan of Iran"s oil industry to increase security and continue oil exportation of the country.

Most important of these are the location of Iran with its ability to access free waters via the Persian Gulf, and the existence of oil terminal facilities in the ports of Neka, Amirabad and Anzeli.
