TEHRAN (PIN) – The Bandarabbas refinery unit for turning the country’s produced heavy crude into the light oil will be operational by the end of the year, an oil official said.

Speaking to PIN, Sasan Sadraei, an official in Oil Industry Research Center said: "The unit is slated to turn 200,000 barrels of the heavy oil into the light one.

Given the current gasoline crisis that is caused by the shortage of light oil in the global markets, construction of the said refinery is of paramount importance.

With the temporary halt in exports from certain oilfields whose products have high API, importance of the project is highlighted more.
