Tehran - Iran's parliament speaker, Doctor Ali Larijani says review of the draft budget for the Iranian year 1389 (starts 21 March 2010) is on the top of the parliament agenda.

According to Shana correspondent, during a press conference on Sunday, the parliament speaker said, it was impossible to enact draft budget and fifth Development Plan simultaneously, that is why the budget review has been given priority and the task would be completed before the end of the year (20 March 2010).

He also emphasized that the fifth Development Plan review would be started before the current year ends.

President Mahmood Ahmadinejad on Sunday (24 January) attended the parliament and presented the draft budget for the next year.

The president described the budget as transparent, cohesive, flexible, and stipulated that reducing dependence on oil revenues, increasing non-oil revenues, and special attention to industry, agriculture and housing sectors be among the important features of the proposed budget. The allocated budget for the next Iranian year is about $368 billion.
