NIGC plans to invest up to $9 billion in pipeline projects

Tehran (Shana) - The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) plans to invest up to $9 billion in construction of gas pipeline and high-pressure relay projects over the fifth Development Plan (2010-2015).

At a press conference here on Sunday, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) told the journalists that construction of up to 6 thousand km of high-pressure gas pipeline and 22-gas pressure relay have been planned with a total credit of 9 billion dollars. 

Javad Oji said that construction of the sixth cross-country gas pipeline from Aghajari towards the provinces of Ilam, Kermanshah and West Azarbaijan, and extending the seventh gas pipeline through Zahedan and Chabahar are among the other NIGC projects during the fifth Development Plan.

Concerning NIGC expenditures for the next Iranian year 1989, engineer Oji said: 6/8 billion dollars credit has been envisaged for the National Iranian Gas Company in the next year budget (starts 21 March 2010) and expressed hope the parliament pass it.

Oji said that NIGC plans to accelerate construction of the Bidboland 2 gas refinery and noted that around 300 million Euros has been spent to this end.
