Iran's largest gas pressure relay station to come online

Tehran (Shana) -Managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) says the country's largest gas pressure relay station will start operations in the first three month of next Iranian calendar year 1389 (starting on 21 March 2010).

In an exclusive interview with Shana, IGEDC's managing director engineer Alireza Ghairbi said the gas pressure relay station, New Saveh, with seven turbo compressor plays a crucial role in strengthening gas pressure in the second, third and fourth national network as well as gas export piplines. 

The station near the city of Saveh, comprises two gas pressure relay each with a capacity to transfer 75 million cubic meters of gas, is capable to transfer 150 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Gharibi stipulated that Save gas pressure relay station could also provide a great potential to stabilize gas transfer toward northern and eastern parts of the country.

Stating that the station has has physical progress by 80 percent, Mr. Gharibi said New Saveh station is being built in an area with 12 thousands hectares.

He said the cost of the project is estimated $85 million and could create permanent jobs for fifty people.

He also said Tehran's sixth gas pipeline with 72 km length, comes online simultaneously with the Save gas pressure relay station. The pipeline could feed Shahriar power plant and strengthen gas transfer in gas network west of Tehran.
