Tehran (Shana) - The National Iranian Offshore Oil Company (NIOOC) managing director Mahmoud Zirakchianzade says Iran is the best option for buying gas by the countries in the Persian Gulf region.

In an interview with Shana, NIOOC,s managing director said here on Wednesday the Islamic Republic of Iran's officials look positively at expanding relations with the neighboring countries in the region.

Mr. Zirakchianzade notes that defining a gas price formula is the main topic of the NIOC's talks with the Persian Gulf countries for exporting natural gas.

He went on to say that by finalizing a gas price formula, we assume that the two sides will not have any problem with regard to the developmental and technical aspects of the deals.

Noting that drafting a price formula depends on many factors, Mr. Zirakchianzade said negotiations are underway in this regard and we are approaching to sign contracts with some of the southern neighboring countries while negotiations with the others should be continued.

According to NIOOC's managing director, negotiations with The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman are desirable pointing out ongoing talks is related to defining the price formula and the volume of gas exports.

The Islamic republic of Iran, under the principle of good neighboring policy, intends to expand ties with the countries in the region in all aspects including gas trade.

Iran has set a specific formula as of last year in order to provide equal conditions for gas purchasers in the region.

In case of concluding the negations with the Persian Gulf countries, Iran would supply gas to Oman through Kish gas field, to UAE through the fields adjacent to the country, to Bahrain via South Pars gas field, while Kuwait would receive the gas through the Iran's sixth national network gas pipeline.
