Tehran (Shana) - A contract to develop Azar oil field will be signed with a consortium consist of domestic and foreign companies before the end of the current Iranian year (ending 20 March 2010), oil and gas production director at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Bahman Soroshi said here on Monday.

In an interview with Shana, Mr. Soroshi said in order to develop the field, some domestic and foreign companies presented their proposals, resulting NIOC to accept some of them including the Gazprom offer.

Assessing positive the results of the negotiations with Gazprom, Soroshi said: In order to finalizing the contract, NIOC delegation traveled to Moscow and the two sides could nearly finalize the development plan.

According to NIOC's oil and gas production director, to develop the Azar oil field a contract will be signed with a consortium consist of domestic and foreign companies including Gazprom Neft.

Azar oil field is located in Anaran oil block between the cities of Dehloran and Ilam west of Iran.
