NIPC plans to export surplus urea

Tehran (Shana) – National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NIPC) intends to get required licenses in order to export excess urea production, NIPC's managing director Abdolhosain Bayat announced here on Friday.

In an interview with Shana, Mr. Bayat said: at present annual production capacity of urea stands at 3/2 million tons. He added that while the domestic consumption of the product is 2 million tons, the company is capable to export 1/2 million tons of surplus production each year.

Currently five petrochemical plants including Shiraz petrochemical plant, Razi Petrochemical plant, Kermanshah petrochemical plant, Khorasan petrochemical plant and first phase of Pardis petrochemical plant are producing urea and by launching the second phase of Pardis petrochemical plant, with an annual capacity of 1/07 million tons, NIPC will be able to export the product to different markets.

The company plans to increase urea production to 12 million tons until the end of Fifth Five Year Plan (2015). Achieving the goal, NIPC will implement projects as Lordegan Petrochemical Plant, Golestan Petochemical Plant, Zanjan Petrochemical Plant, the second phase of Pardis Petrochemical Plant and third phase of Shiraz Petrochemical plant.
