TEHRAN (Shana): Regarding the operations to repair Iran – turkey gas pipeline, it is expected gas export to turkey will be resumed in next three days, an Iranian gas official announced here on Saturday.

In an interview with Shana, Valiollah Dini, director of the eight regional gas transmission operations said that based on the latest information, fixing the pipeline has progressed by 70 percent and it is expected we can resume gas export in next three days if there are no further problems.

Gas export to turkey halted early morning on Wednesday after an explosion hit the pipeline near the eastern Turkish town of Dogubayazit, close to the Iranian border.

The explosion shattered windows of buildings in the nearby village of Topcatan, prompting the authorities to close off the conduit.

Firefighters managed to control the blaze after Turkish authorities turned off the flow of the gas.

Iran is Turkey's second biggest gas supplier after Russia, and sells nearly 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey per year.
