Addressing on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the first phase of the Hengam oil field in the Persian Gulf, the minister of petroleum said: exploitation from the shared Hengam oilfield is the symbol of the Iranian glory and honor in the Persian Gulf.
On the daily production of 10.000 barrels from the field, Mirkazemi said: designing and implementation of the project by the Iranian companies is a destructive blow to those who intends to restrict Iran’s oil industry by fruitless sanctions.
Having said that 3.500 billion rial has been spent to launch the first phase of the Hengam Oilfield, the minister of petroleum said another 3.500 billion rial will be invested to develop the second phase of the field.
Noting that the Hengam oil field production will rise to 16.000 barrels a day by October, Mirkazemi said we were intending to boost the production to 30.000 barrels per day.
The petroleum minister named Qeshm and Kish Islands as the new polar of the Hormozgan oil and gas activity noting plus Qeshm and Sarkhon gas fields, we are attempting to meet 30 million cubic meters of the gas consumption by the province via IGAT- 7 .
According to the petroleum minister remarks, development of shared oil and gas fields is the first priority of the government adding at present the contracts to develop all the South Pars gas fields have been concluded. He went on to say that up to the end of the year (21 March 2011) we will be making a decision on development of all shared oil and gas fields in the Persian Gulf.
Iran’s minister of petroleum and the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Ahamad Qalebane on Tuesday visited Hengam oilfield and its oil installations in Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf.
Trail output from Hengam oilfield started in May with 4.000 barrels per day having increased to nearly 10.000 barrels per day at present.
By starting production from the field, Iran will export oil with a quality of 43.5 degree API for the first time .
The shared field with Oman is located in the eastern part of the Persian Gulf, 80 percent of it in Iranian territory.
Iran is OPEC’s second-largest oil producer after Saudi Arabia.
