On the sideline of the meeting with Bahraini oil and gas minister, Abdul-Hussein Mirza, Iranian minister of petroleum described the economic and political relations between the two countries desirable and expressed hope the relations between the two countries to expand in all fields especially in oil and gas.
Noting that the two countries are interested in expanding bilateral relations, Iranian minister of petroleum pointed out that during the meeting expanding energy cooperation was discussed and the based on deals, Iran is slated to supply Bahraini power plants with gas.
According Mirkazemi, Bahraini investment in Iran’s gas fields was among the other topics on the agenda.
On the volume of gas sale to Bahrain, the minister of petroleum said: we discussed the topic but the gas export volume to Bahrain depends on the thier demand and the term that will be included in the contract.
On the details of Iran and Bahrain deal to export gas to the country, the minister of petroleum said: we held talks on the generals and reached some agreements. He went on to say that during the meeting we agreed on holding further talks by the expertise delegations after the end of holy month of Ramadan to finalize the gas export deal and drafting its related agreements.
Stressing on Iran’s readiness to export gas to Bahrain, Dr. Mirkazemi estimated that following the finalizing of the expertise meetings and reaching agreement on different subjects, the gas contract between the two countries would be signed and executive operations to transfer gas to the southern part of the Persian Gulf kicks off.
During the meeting, that was held in the petroleum ministry headquarters in Tehran, in addition to the minister of petroleum, some other oil officials including Javad Oji, deputy minister of petroleum for gas affairs and Ahmad Khaleghi, deputy minister of petroleum for international and commercial affairs were present.
