In an interview with Shana, Hasan Montazer Torbati said gas flow to Turkey was resumed today morning at 10:40 following Turkey’s state-run oil and gas company BOTAS readiness to take gas.
He said gas delivery to Turkey had been suspended for 11 days due to some repairs on Iran - Turkey gas pipeline in Turkey territory.
Dispatching director at NIGC added based on Botas demand, 24 million cubic meters of gas per day will be exported to Turkey and in case of request by the company, under the terms of the contract, the amount could be increased to 30 mcm/d.
The contract to export gas to Turkey was signed in 1996 with Botas. Under the terms of the contract, NIGC is obliged to deliver 288 billion cubic meters of gas for a 23 years period.
Under the contract, Iran’s gas export to Turkey started with 3 billion cm in the first year could be increased to 10 bcm annually in a three years period. To this end, a 253 km gas pipeline, 40 inches diameter, was constructed and gas delivery to Turkey started on February 2002.
