In an interview with Shana, Kashkouli said under a memorandum of understanding between the two countries, Iran is slated to export daily 5 to 10 million cubic meters of gas to the neighboring country.
The official pointed out that Khosestan, Ilam and Kursdistan provinces are three options to deliver gas to Iraq but the negotiations with the Iraqi side imply that Iran’s gas would be transferred to Iraq through the Sixth Iran’s gas trunk line, even though it has not been finalized.
In addition Iran and Syria are willing to construct a gas pipeline to transport Iran’s gas to Syria via Iraq territory and to be extended towards the Mediterranean region and European countries.
Meanwhile Sohilipour, NIGC’s director of planning said Iran- Iraq financial, technical and legal groups are working together to prepare the situation for signing a contract between the two countries on gas export.
