TEHRAN (PIN) - Production of oil from the Jofeir oilfield is to commence ahead of schedule in May 2008, an official of the field said on Tuesday.

Speaking to PIN, the manager of Jofeir oilfield in Oil Engineering and Development Company, Danesh Molaei, added that production of oil from the Jofeir oilfield is to commence ahead of schedule in May 2008 with a 6,000 bpd production capacity.

Referring to that the field will not produce oil by the end of the Iranian year (ends March 19), he continued a 6,000 bpd production of heavy oil from the Jofeir oilfield"s early production section was to commence 13 months after the inception of the contract on May 11, 2008.

Molaei went on to say that the produced oil from the field will be transferred to Ahwaz refinery"s unit-3 via Azadegan oil pipeline.

The manager announced the first phase of the field is expected to produce 15,000 bpd after 13 months and a half, and the second phase 10,000 bpd after 63 months of the inception of the contract in May 2008.
