TEHRAN (PIN) - Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) traveled to Moscow today morning to follow talks on the recent MoU with Russian officials.

According to PIN, Seifollah Jashnsaz is heading a delegation to Russia at the invitation of managing director of Gazprom Company, Alexi Miller.

He then will travel to Belarus and Tatarstan for meetings with oil officials.

NIOC and Russia’s Gazprom signed an agreement on July 18 for the development of Iran’s oil and gas fields.

According to the MOU, NIOC and Gazprom will cooperate in the development of Iran’s oil and gas fields, the development of Iran’s North Azadegan oil field, the transfer of oil from the Caspian Sea to the Sea of Oman, swaps of Russian gas, technology transfers, and the construction of a refinery in northern Iran.

The MOU also leaves the door open for Gazprom to participate in the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.

Jashnsaz’ 4-day trip came in the wake of an invitation by Alexey Miller.

It is expected that the two sides reach agreement upon establishing an Iranian-Russian joint company and constructing Neka-Jask pipeline.

Gazprom has also showed interest in developing North Pars oil field.

After Russia, the NIOC managing director will make a two-day trip to Tatarstan. Jashnsaz and the Tatneft Company’s managing director will discuss Iran-Tatarstan bilateral relations in oil and gas section.

Developing Ahvaz (Bangastan) oil filed is among the major topics of the officials meeting.

The Iranian delegation will travel to Minsk next. Jashnsaz and Belarusian oil officials will mainly discuss Jofeir oil field’s development plan.

Iran-Belarus came to an agreement to develop Jofeir Oilfield in 2006.

Located in Iran-Iraq border, Jofeir Oilfield will produce 30,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil based on initial estimations.
