Newest Operational Tug Boat Docks at Bushehr

TEHRAN (PIN) - Where entrance of the latest operational tug boat into Bushehr port purchased by the National Oil Terminals Company, all large oil tanker operations within Khark Island and Assaluyeh will take place utilizing floaters owned by the NIOC.

The MD of National Oil Terminals Company, Mohammad-Kazem Niknam, spoke to PIN in an interview and added: The newest Operational Tug, called Damoon, has travelled 7218 nautical miles in 29 days and docked at Bushehr port. The tug boat entered IRI waters after Toraj tugboat and is the seventh of its kind purchased from Japan to upgrade and renovate the operational fleet of the country as well as increase the security potential.

Niknam went on to say: The tugboat has a length of 34.10 m, a width of 12 m and is capable of carrying 215,000 liters of fuel, 19,000 liters of foam, 3,000 liters of oil cleaning material as well as 42,000 liters of Sweetwater. It is a multipurpose boat and is of the Azimuth Stern Drive type. The tug boat has the ASD navigation system and is considered as one of the most advanced operational floaters of its kind in the world.

Niknam continued: This type of boat is able to navigate and lead tanker ships into harbor, extinguish marine fires, transfer water and fuel. It possesses a 700 meter steel cable of 50 mm diameter and has a 5,000 horse steam power engine.

With utilization of such floaters there will be less reliance on foreign rented floaters as well as savings of approximately $210,000 per floaters each month.
