TEHRAN November 15 (Shana): Total production of petrochemical plants based in Assaluyeh (onshore installations of the South Pars gas field) has amounted to 9.8 million tons since beginning of the current Iranian year on 21st March to 6th November 2010.

Among the petrochemical plants in the region, Nori Petrochemical plant succeeded to produce the most with 2.173 million tons petrochemicals during the mentioned period that includes the first seven and half months of the current Iranian year 1389.

Nori petrochemical plant as one of the six gasoline producing petrochemical plants also could register daily production of six million liters of gasoline.

The plant covers eleven units including Parazaylyn, benzene, raffinate, heavy aromatics, liquefied gas (LPG), light and heavy hydrocarbons and pentane cutting and has the capacity to produce 4.5 million tons of aromatics.

Pars Petrochemical Plant, holder of the first place until one and a half month earlier, produced 2.52 tons of products as the second biggest petrochemicals producer.

The plant has the capacity to produce 4.5 million tons of petrochemicals per year exporting 50 percent of the products and delivering the remaining to domestic petrochemical plants as feedstock. 

Major products of this complex include ethane, propane, butane, gasoline, ethyl benzene, styrene monomer. Styrene monomer unit of the plant is the largest single production unit in the world.

Zagros Petrochemical Plant was the third largest in the region and produced 1.994 million tons of petrochemicals.

As the largest methanol producer of the world, the plant is capable to produce 1.650 tons of methanols annually. The bulk of Iran’s methanol exports are supplied by Zagros Petrochemical Plant.

As the fourth petrochemical plant in the region, Jam Petrochemical plant succeeded to produce 1.408 tons of petrochemicals. The plant is the largest producer of olefin in the world and has a share in the emergency gasoline production plan.

Annual production capacity of the plant reaches 1.321 million tons of polymer products.

Pardis and Aryasasol petrochemical plants also produced 1.159 million and 997 thousand tons assuming fifth and sixth ranks respectively.
