ASSALUYEH March 29 (Shana) following the end of new Iranian year’s holidays on March 25 and restarting activities across the country, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei visited South Pars gas field ongoing projects on Monday.

During the one day trip by the supreme leader, the overall situation of the South Pars gas field projects and industries was explained by the experts. Afterward the supreme leader attended a meeting of the oil industry’s senior managers and contractors of the different south pars gas field development plans followed by Ayatollah Khamenei’s visit to ongoing projects in the region where he attended the south pars phase 15 site and got more information on the process and progress of the projects.

The South Pars gas field which is located in the Persian Gulf is the world’s largest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar.

According to the International Energy Agency, the field holds an estimated 50.97 trillion cubic meters (1800 trillion cubic feet) of in-situ gas and some 50 billion barrels of condensates. Iran holds the world’s second-largest reserves of natural gas and the third-largest reserves of oil.

In concoction with the economic importance of the south pars gas field, Iranian minister of petroleum Seyed Masoud Mirkazemi had said earlier by completion of the remaining phases of the giant gas field Iran would earn annually 110 billion dollars from selling natural gas and its derivatives.
