TEHRAN Oct 31 (Shana): During the third phase of launching CNG fueling stations, 50 new CNG fueling stations will become operational in next two weeks, CNG manager at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC), Shahram Assadpour said here on Monday.

Assadpour told Shana that by launching these stations, total number of CNG fueling stations will hit 1800 across the country.

Also by launching new CNG fueling stations, supply capacity of the fuel will reach 1.870 million normal cubic meters per hour.

Based on the latest statistics published by the information and communication center of CNG Program at NIOPDC, the number of CNG nuzzles has climbed to 10.352 and the number of CNG burning vehicles to 2.6 million across the country.

Islamic Republic of Iran has one of the largest fleets of CNG vehicles and CNG distribution networks in the world. NIOPDC plans to increase the number of CNG fueling stations to 2100 up to the end of the current Iranian year that ends 20th March 2012.

More than half of the CNG fueling stations of the country have been built over the past year and a half. Clean climate and saving fuel consumption are among the advantages of expanding CNG burning fleet in the country.
