TEHRAN Dec 27 (Shana): Afghanistan is willing to boost oil products imports, mainly gasoil, from Iran an issue which will be examined in next six months and then a decision will be made depending on existence of more potential for exports.

Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining And Distribution Company (NIORDC), Alireza Zeighami made the above remarks last night during the signing ceremony of an agreement on oil products exports to Afghanistan adding we have had some negotiations with our neighboring countries since last year on oil products exports that fortunately led to signing an agreement with Afghanistan.

Referring to main oil products Iran will export to Afghanistan, NIORDC’s managing director said: gasoil, gasoline and jet fuel are the main items on the list of oil products exports.

‘Iran was already exporting gasoil to the neighboring country but gasoline exports will start for the first time from the beginning of the new Iranian year on 21st March 2012 amid adding jet fuel to the list of exports’, Zeighami said.

According to Zeighami the two countries will hold two meetings each year to review the related issues.

On private sector participation in oil products exports, the official noted that the products would be delivered to those companies designated by Afghanistan’s ministry of trade and industries to receive consignments.

Elsewhere in his remarks Zeighami said that by implementation of an upgrading plan at Kermanshah oil refinery, the refinery has the potential to produce jet fuel.

He concluded that development plans of the Shazand (Imam Khomeini), Tehran and Lavan oil refineries would be completed up to the end of this Iranian year while development plans of Esfehan and Bandar Abbas oil refineries will come to an end over the first half of the next Iranian year that begins on 21st march 2012.

Last night Iran and Afghanistan signed a deal under its terms Kabul will import one million tons of various oil products from Iran annually.

The deal was signed by Iranian minister of petroleum, Rostam Qasemi and Afghan’s minister of trade and industries, Anvarolhaqh Ahadi.

Oil products’ exports to Afghanistan started last year but upon the request of Afghanistan government the two sides reached an agreement to boost the volume from 200 thousand tons to one million tons this year.

Gasoil, gasoline and jet fuel account for respectively 60 to 70 percent, 25 to 30 percent and 10 percent of the exports.
