TEHRAN Dec 27 (Shana): Development contact of Lavan gas field was signed today in the presence of Iranian minister of petroleum Rostam Qasemi between National Iranian Offshore Oil Compnay (NIOOC) and Sepehr Energy Company.

The development contract aims not only to produce gas and convey it to downstream sector facilities in Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf for processing but to expand Lavan Island gas activities so that to be changed into the country’s third largest hub of petrochemicals.

In place gas reserves of the field are estimated at 9.5 trillion cubic meters of which 6.2 trillion is recoverable while gas condensate reserves are estimated at 62 million barrels.

It is predicted natural gas and condensate production from the field to be respectively at 750 million cubic feet and 11 thousand barrels per day amid annual production of 260 thousand tons of gas liquids at the downstream sector.

Lavan gas field is an extension of South Pars giant gas field in the Persian Gulf waters. 80 percent of the field’s gas reservoir is located in onshore and 20 percent in onshore sector of the Island.

Gas reserves of both sides of the field will be accessible through vertical and oriental drilling in onshore sector.
