TEHRAN Feb20 (Shana): Deputy minister of petroleum explained the result of Iranian minister of petroleum talks with his Pakistani counterpart on gas pipeline in Islamabad.

Speaking to Shana through telephone, deputy minister of petroleum for gas, Javad Oji said: all the already made agreements between the two countries under the Iran-Pakistan gas contract are valid adding Tehran will start delivery of 21.5 million cubic meters of gas per day to the neighboring country as of December 2014.

He continued that all the new agreements made today are within the earlier contractual framework and the two sides stressed on their implementation.

‘One of the main topics on today’s negotiations agenda was finalization of Iran’s participation in construction of 750 kilometers of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline inside Pakistan territory’, Oji said.

He continued during the negotiations, Iranian minister of petroleum stressed on participation of capable Iranian contractors in laying down gas pipeline in Pakistan territory which was finalized today.  

According to Oji the two sides also finalized the timeframe for  laying down the gas pipeline, the volume of gas delivery and its price.

‘By taking into account that Iran’s gas production capacity will double in next two or three years, the Iranian side expressed readiness to raise gas exports to Islamabad to more than 30 million cubic meters per day’, deputy Minister of Petroleum concluded. 

Iranian minister of petorleum, Rostam Qasemi, arrived in Islamabad yesterday to hold negotiations with his Pakistani counterpart. Qasemi visited today with prime minister and president of Pakistani conveying a message from iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his Pakistani counterpart.
