Band Karkheh Seismic Data Under Processing

TEHRAN Dec 24 (Shana): Data from seismic operations in Band Karkheh oil field are being processed before development of the field starts by March 2014 marking the end of the Iranian calendar year, the director for development of the field said.

Ali Pouladivand told Shana that the master development plan (MDP) for the oil field has been endorsed by the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) and the Directorate for Consolidated Planning of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

“In case of endorsement by the NIOC Board of Directors, development of Band Karkheh field will start next [calendar] year,” he said.

The seismic survey of the oil fielded was conducted last year.

Under a contract signed between PEDEC and SATA for the development of Band Karkheh, early production from the field is forecasted to start from 7,500 b/d and reach 20,000 b/d.

The main reservoirs in Band Karkheh are Ilam and Sarvak formations. The Ilam layer is estimated to contain two billion barrels of oil in place and Sarvak is estimated to hold 1.9 billion barrels. Their API gravity is respectively 23 and 18.
