Speaking to IRNA, a source familiar with the issue denied speculations by some media outlets stating Zanjani had paid the money to Petroleum Ministry or Central Bank of Iran.
During the tenure of former administration headed by Ahmadinejad, Babak Zanjani was engaged in transfer of Iran’s oil export revenues through several banks he possessed and until now he has not settled 2.06 billion euros he owes to Petroleum Ministry.
Iranian minister of petroleum has already stated settlement of outstanding debts to Petroleum Ministry as one of his top priorities.
