NIDC to Expand Its Activities to Overseas

TEHRAN Dec 28 (Shana): National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) plans to raise the number of its drilling rigs to 80 before the end of next Iranian calendar year on March 21 2015.

Deputy managing director of NIDC, Mohammad Reza Kaitodi, made the remarks adding the company further seeks to play a bigger role in world markets.

“Even though there are plenty of opportunities for drilling activities in domestic market but entering the world’s competitive market is imperative for NIDC in view of booting its position in world arena”, Kaitodi noted.   

Referring to a deal the company recently signed with Iraq for providing drilling services to the country, the NIDC’s official said: presence in Iraq market, in Majnoun and Basra cities, is the first step the company has taken to attend the foreign markets, which is hoped to be a prelude for entering the other countries markets.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he stated that being linked with other countries in a bid to exchange technology and updated knowhow is a necessity which could not be ignored even if the company to attain self-sufficiency.

On cooperation with domestic drilling industry, Kaitodi noted the company was in contact with many domestic companies manufacturing parts and equipments for drilling industry including MWD and wellbore equipments.

NIDC is responsible for the bulk of drilling activities in Iran. It owns 74 drilling rigs operating in offshore and onshore sectors of the country with more than 16 thousand skilled workforce.
