Gov’t Launches Anti-Pollution Campaign

TEHRAN April 14 (Shana)--The government has adopted a 9-point plan for reducing air pollution, mainly focusing on high-quality gasoline distribution and better transportation services in Iran.

The plan, adopted on Sunday, calls for Petroleum Ministry to distribute euro-4 gasoline in big cities.

As envisaged by the plan, the engines of diesel-burning cars are required to be modified to produce less pollution.

Also, transportation fleet has to be renovated while a national network must be installed to regularly monitor air pollution.

Furthermore, green space must be expanded in the cities and the Department of the Environment must regularly hold training programs on state television.
