Iran to Build Petchem Zone in Iranshahr

TEHRAN April 15 (Shana)--Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said his administration plans to construct a special petrochemical zone in the southeastern Iranian city of Iranshahr in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

Addressing the people of Zahedan in his third provincial tour, the president said the government is deeply concerned with supplying natural gas to the cities of Zahedan and Khash, and said gas will be supplied to the regions by the next Iranian calendar year to Marhc 2015.

The president also noted the start of feasibility studies for construction of a petrochemical zone in Iranshahr with reliance on private investments and government support.

He noted the vast potentials of the province for the transit of goods to various parts of the world, and stated the province should become the conduit for the transfer of cargos to the northern parts of the country from the sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean.
