Iran to Supply Gas to Chabahar Port

TEHRAN April 17 (Shana)--President Hassan Rouhani said the southeastern port city of Chabahar will be connected to Iran’s national gas supply network.

Addressing a group of people in the strategic port, Rouhani said the city is preparing to become a center for industrial, petrochemical, steel and mineral projects.

“Doubtlessly, Chabahar should become an industrial and commercial center. In order to become industrial, it should be connected to the gas supply network,” said the president.

Rouhani said his administration has defined appropriate plans for gas and water supply, mine exploration and construction of petrochemical plants in Chabahar.

“In order to develop tourism, we need investment and we will prepare the grounds for the private sector investment,” said the president.

He said Sistan Balouchestan province, which has 1,200 kilometers of ground and 300 kilometers of water borders, enjoys the necessary potentials to undergo development.
