Europe No Key Buyer of Iran's Petchems

TEHRAN April 20 (Shana)--Iran says it enjoys major petrochemical transactions with Asian countries like China and India, and the opening up of the European market would only pave the way for the country to reach out for exchange of expertise and knowledge with Europe.

Iran seeks European petrochemical arenas so that it can expand its interactions with Europeans and can broaden its knowledge bases in the petrochemical industry, said Mohammad Hassan Peyvandi, deputy executive manager of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC).

He noted the sanctions relief after the accord Iran clinched with the West over its nuclear program, and said Iran being allowed to trade its petrochemical products in European markets is special for Iran because it only allows Tehran to stretch the future span of the petrochemical industry.
The official also said that the NPC has already stepped forward to augment its relations with UN petrochemical firms and has invited representatives from several of these firms to an upcoming conference it has arranged in June 2014.

He also underlined the rise of petrochemical exports to certain Asian countries as a result of the shrinking sanctions.
