Masoud Samivand said Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has underscored the need for conducting research projects on gas storage.
He said that gas storage facilities need infrastructures.
Samivand said a project by NGSC in the central city of Kashan is to come on-stream in five years.
He said NGSC dipped into Sarajeh gas storage facility to compensate for gas shortage in the last winter.
He added that during winter, up to 10 mcm/d of gas was withdrawn from this storage facility.
Samivand said recently that Iran will see its natural gas storage capacity rise by 2 bcm after the Kashan project comes on-stream.
He said geophysical and seismic operations have been conducted for this project.
