Iran, Turkey Set to Broaden Energy Ties

TEHRAN April 22 (Shana)--Iran and Turkey are undertaking efforts to broaden ties in the energy sector, the head of Iran-Turkey parliamentary friendship league has said.

Moayed Hosseini Sadr said Turkey is intent on buying electricity from Iran.

“In the near future, Iran-Turkey ties will expand,” he said.

Hosseini Sadr said Iran-Turkey trade is expected to total 30 billion dollars by 2014. “Therefore, we believe that we have to sign preferential trade agreement and remove obstacles to reach that significant objective,” he said.

Iran is Turkey’s second largest gas supplier after Russia. Turkey also imports crude oil from Iran.
