Iran Gasoline Imports Up 3.6ml/d

TEHRAN May 18 (Shana)--Iran increased its gasoline imports by 3.6 ml/d from the year before during the first two months of the current calendar year which started on March 21, a senior official said.

Mohsen Qamsari, director for international affairs of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), told Shana the amount of gasoline imports varies in different months of the year and depends on the country’s need.

There have been conflicting figures about Iran’s gasoline imports this year. Some put the figure at 5.5 ml/d and some others estimate it at 8 ml/d.

Qamsari said sanctions and banking restrictions have caused difficulties for Iran’s gasoline purchase.

“But we try to resolve the problems through different channels because we have to supply gasoline,” he said.

Qamsari said Iran buys gasoline from international suppliers without having to directly purchase from any specific country.

He said Iran is currently buying gasoline from markets in Asia.
